A recently graduated veterinary surgeon writes about her work in the English Midlands
This is the story of a young veterinary surgeon working somewhere in the English Midlands. Let's call her Beth. Beginning her working life in a pretty basic mixed practice in a not very affluent part of the South West, she moved into small animal practice after about a year and has never looked back - particularly when she thinks about mixed practice colleagues TB testing on wet cold hillsides in February while she's tucked up nice and dry in her consulting room! Still in small animal practice, she is currently discovering the differences between the rural South West and the more urban area in which she now works. Details of practices, cases and clients have been changed or elided to protect confidentiality, but it's all true. Really.
